I think I'll start drinking again

Not much went right in Phillie this week. About the only thing accomplished was giving hope to 2 teams that should have been buried by now.

All year I've been hearing about how the Mets are the best team. About how if they were healthy, they'd dominate the League. About how they have an American league style lineup. These things may be true. But a team is no better than the guy making the decisions. And time after time Willie have proven that he can not make the hard choices, or the correct choices when the game is on the line. I'm really starting to wonder if Willie has the capacity to manage on this level. He has shown no improvement in his game time decisions or motivational skills. This team is so flat and lifeless it's scary. They show no sence of urgency or worry. Willie has all to tools needed to win multiple Rings. He just seems to lack the knowledge or skill needed to effectively use all the pieces of this Mets puzzle.

I enjoy History very much. When i was growing up I loved reading about the Revolution and the Civil War. What we have in NY is not alot different than what Lincoln had for the 1st 2 years of the war. Lincoln had the most powerful army on the face of the Plant, but had a General who lacked the ability to use it effectively. The Army of the Potomic was that Army. They had 3 times the Men and equipment as any other army the South could put into battle. But Lincoln had George McClellen as a General. The South had Robert E. Lee. Lee continued to beat the Army of the Potomic for years because the Army's strengths were never used correctly. McClellen and others were always delaying the battle, and asking for more time and supplies. He used the Army in haphazardly ways and failed to push his advantage when given the opportunity. Finally after suffering defeat after defeat, Lincoln replaced McClellen. George Meade commanded the Army at Gettysburg and won the most important battle of the War. And Grant soon after took command and used the Army's advantages to beat Lee and his Army into surrendering. It was a long bloody road, but Grant used the Army to it's potential and won the war. What we have in NY is another McClellen [Willie Randolph], when we need another U.S. Grant. And until our Lincoln [Omar] realizes that, we as fans will be disappointed.

And that's the history lesson for today folks.
