The Mets survive a test

This was a good win all around. Maine pitched great. Delgado hit the ball hard. The fielding was super. And the Mets kept the pressure on the Braves pitchers.

Just a few thoughts before hitting the sack.

1- Guinness, give Gotay a break. He's young and hasn't had alot of playing time lately. I doubt Witless Willie and Omar did much for his confidence when they traded for Castillo. Young players need to see that thier coaches have faith in them. The Mets didn't exactly show Rubin any love by making that trade.

2- Pelfrey needs to step up tomorrow. Hopefully with Pedro back in the dugout, he can give some tips to Mike and help keep him loose. Pelfrey has great stuff, he showed that this spring. Sometimes I think he get a little bit of stage fright. Pedro's antics and personality should help keep him laughing.

3- The hitters need to keep after the Braves. Don't take anything for granted, go for the throat once the Braves slip.

4- Keep Lo Duca behind the plate for Pelfrey. Pauly brings that Captain Red A-s attitude to the field and will steady Mike when things get sticky.

One down, 5 more to go before the Mets return home.
