What a game by Pedro. He hit 92 mph and threw 92 pitches while winning his homecoming. He threw strikes and mixed his pitches well. He appears to still be working on the curve, but the Change-Up was nasty. Hopefully he comes thru this outing in good shape and can take the ball against the Phillies. The Mets owe them a good butt kicking and I'm sure Pedro wants a piece of them.
Offensively, things were so-so. Anytime you can score 4 runs against Ozwalt, it can't be too bad of a day. I was worried when I saw David Wright was sitting today. He has been by far the hottest hitter down the stretch for the Mets. But Beltran had 2 RBI and Alou' hit a bomb into the bleachers. Green is continuing to hit and Castillo managed to hobble around for a double. Reyes is lost. He needs to sit or something. He's so messed up I worry that he'll not get straightened out by the end of the season. Gotay went 0-4, but has shown to be a good fielding utility player. He made a great stop and throw in the 9th, that even earned Maz's praises. Not bad for someone who never started at 3rd before. I bet it even impressed you Guinness. I sure hope they don't lose him.
Now on to the Braves. I hope David continues his march toward the 30-30 club and the Mets continue to bury Atlanta. Perez goes for his 4th win against the Braves and El Duque' makes his return too. Here's to a continued hot streak and the end of the NL East race.
What do all of you think about Gotay? What about Pedro's pitching? When do you think David joins the 30-30 club? Will Perez become only the 2nd Met to beat a team 4 times in 1 year? Will the Mets sweep Atlanta again? Let us know.
