The Mets played well for the most part today. They seem to be following my "7 Rules of Engagment".
The one spot they seem to be lacking is staying alert in the field. Josie and Castillo both were sleeping on the play that Beltran got the error. Luckily, it didn't cost more runs. The Mets kept the pressure on the opposing pitcher, and made the most of their hits and walks.
Pedro hit 90+ a few times and showed that he may be a force to recon with this next month. As good as this game was, it could have been better offensively. If Delgado and Alou' were to flip in the order, there would be 2-3 more runs on the board. It may not have mattered today, but it could be the difference in future games.
So Guinness, what about sitting Josie Reyes and having Gotay play a few games at shortstop? I think it needs to be done so Josie is fresh for the stretch drive.

No way...as bad as Gotay is at playing second base, I'd hate to see him play shortstop. I'd rather see Marlon Anderson there. Or have Castillo play short and Gotay play second.
